Coffin weights and sizes
All of our coffins are tested and approved by the FSA up to 120kg (around 18.9 stone), and have been independently tested up to 160kg (around 25.2 stone).

Free next-working-day delivery
We provide complimentary next-working-day delivery throughout England and Wales for orders placed before 2pm. Delivery to Scotland takes 2–3 working days with a £10 per unit surcharge. Delivery to the Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland is available on request — contact us for pricing.
Materials and construction
Our coffins are constructed from premium grade, double-walled, recycled and corrugated cardboard, with an optional eucalyptus plywood base. Water-based adhesives are used throughout, and every coffin comes with biodegradable cotton handles and optional name plates. Please note colour variations may occur depending on monitor display settings.
FSA approved — all of our coffins are tested and approved by the FSA, with membership verification available through their directory.
Are cardboard coffins strong and durable?
Yes, all of our cardboard coffins and caskets are extremely strong and durable. They are also weight tested by the FSA (previously FFMA) to 120kg, and independently tested up to 160kg. They are all constructed from premium grade, double walled cardboard.
Are cardboard coffins affordable?
Our caskets are well within the affordable range for both funeral directors and families looking for a low-cost funeral option. The price can vary based on the design, customisation, and retailer, but they are often a more affordable option.
Can cardboard coffins be cremated?
All of our cardboard coffins and caskets are ideal for cremation and they have been used in all types of crematoria across the country (with both manual and automatic loaders). They do not produce harmful emissions or byproducts during the cremation process.

Can cardboard coffins be customised?
Yes — our coffins can reflect individual preferences through bespoke pictorial designs, or through our in-house range with personalisation options such as name plates.
Is cardboard better for the environment?
Yes, Parley Green coffins and caskets are made from 80% recycled materials and do not contain metals or toxic chemicals. They also cremate with approximately 90% less carbon emissions and contain 70% less wood fibre than traditional wood coffins.
How long does it take for a cardboard coffin to decompose?
The decomposition time of a cardboard coffin can vary based on factors such as burial conditions, moisture levels, and temperature. On average, it can take several months to a few years for a cardboard coffin to fully break down in the soil.
How quickly can I have a cardboard coffin delivered?
In-stock items ordered before 2pm are shipped the next business day. Bespoke designs go through design approval stages, with delivery in 3–5 working days after approval.
